The first thing you should know about this orange honey spice granola is that it smells AMAZING while it’s baking.  (The second is that it’s basically a superfood, and the third is that it’s mildly addictive.)

A lot of granola (particularly store-bought) is NOT health food…packed with carbs and sugar, it’s more of a dessert.  This granola is definitely not cut from the same cloth.

While this orange spice granola does have *some* grains (rolled oats), they’re as whole and high in fiber as possible, and much of the granola’s bulk is comprised of seeds and nuts.  It’s high protein, low sugar, and PACKED with flavor.

I am firmly in the camp of “granola is not a great cereal, but is entirely appropriate as clusters on fruit and yogurt”.  It’s…a specific camp.  And if that’s your camp as well, you’re going to love this recipe.  It’s incredibly satisfying—crispy, crunchy, sweet and a tiny bit salty.  (Also, crazy easy to make, which is a huge plus.)

Bake for 25 minutes or so (a few more if it needs it).  Don’t touch or stir it at all, or you won’t get good clusters!

Keep an eye on it after about 20 minutes, as it can start to catch and burn a bit.  You want it to be nice and golden and fragrant, beginning to dry out.  It will still feel a bit wet or soft, but will harden as it dries.

  1. You have a typo, wan instead of want. I usually avoid recipes with typos since I figure the recipe will not be good. But I am going to chance it since this sound intriguing.

    1. Hi Jean, thanks for the heads up! I’d fixed that typo in one place already but it didn’t save in the other. Fixed now!

    2. Hi Jean. Don’t you think it’s a bit pretentious to call out such a minor mistake in such a way? Surely there was a different approach if you were so concerned with the typo. Jessica was kind enough to create this recipe and share it free of charge. We should show our appreciation with humility and gratitude!
