Why Araza Natural Beauty is My Go-To Clean, Non-Toxic Makeup
I’ve shared a bit on this site about my natural health journey over the years, though almost always related to super healthy recipes (or my tips for feeling great through a liver detox). But today I’m going to briefly pause and dive into one of the other big natural health swaps I’ve made over the past couple years—in my beauty products. And specifically, I’m going to share what I think is the best clean, non-toxic makeup out there after years of using it.

Like probably many of you, I’ve been struggling for years with various health issues that are hard to pin down…gut issues and bloating, sleep problems, joint and muscle pain, skin disruption, weight gain, and more. Despite taking really good care of myself, eating super healthy, exercising regularly, etc., life often feels like a game of autoimmune whack-a-mole, where you figure out something that improves one thing, but something else is still flaring up.
The conventional medical establishment wants us to believe that this is normal, or that a pill (and then another, and another) can fix it, but at the end of the day we come to the realization that the world around us has been stacked against us—from environmental toxins to nutrient-empty food to a “sick care” lifestyle.
I was blessed to grow up on a farm and have always been an “ingredients household”, but it’s only in the last few years that I’ve really begun to understand the impact that my beauty products, household items, cookware, and more have on my health. And so after making a ton of swaps in the kitchen, I’ve spent the past couple years focusing heavily on identifying toxic ingredients in my beauty products and finding items for non- or low-tox alternatives. And I started with make-up and skincare.

Why is it important to use clean, non-toxic makeup?
Our skin is the largest organ in the body, and it absorbs sooooo much (I saw a stat that was like 60-70% of what ends up on the skin gets absorbed??). Many beauty products contain chemicals like parabens, phthalates, and formaldehyde, which are classified as endocrine disruptors, meaning they can interfere with the body’s hormone system and potentially lead to health concerns like reproductive issues, developmental problems, and increased cancer risk when exposed to over time—in addition to many other issues. In fact, many of the products that are used in the U.S. are banned in other countries!
The problem is that when you’re looking for good clean, natural alternatives, “clean” and “natural” are so overused in marketing and are not regulated, so it can be hard to make sure that what you’re getting is what you WANT. My personal definition is that I want my makeup to be chemical and toxin-free, without endocrine-disrupting chemicals and preservatives, and organic whenever possible.
I tried a number of clean makeup brands when starting on this journey, and for me Araza Natural Beauty was hands-down the winner. Their products are crafted only with healthy fats, organic plant-based ingredients, and minerals which work together to feed and nourish your skin. They contain NOTHING harmful or toxic, including nanoparticles, parabens, chemicals, toxins, unnecessary fillers, sulfates, phthalates, Triclosan, artificial fragrances or colors. And importantly—they work.

That’s the challenge with finding the best non-toxic makeup…you usually are giving something up (texture, efficacy, shelf life, etc.). Araza has become my go-to because it’s not only totally clean, but also because my skin is actually healthier and more amazing from using it. I hadn’t worn foundation in like 15 years (because I’ve always been blessed with perfect skin), but a couple years ago my skin went nuts with rosacea and breakouts—THANK YOU AUTOIMMUNE ISSUES.
It drove me nuts and looked awful, so I had to look into ways to minimize it, but wanted to do that naturally. In the rest of the post I’m going to talk a bit about Araza’s ingredients and approach, and share which of their products are my favorites. I’ve used them for a few years now, and loved them so much that I reached out about being a brand ambassador. (Also, one of my favorite things is that you can buy sample sizes of many of their products so you can make sure you have the right shade and love them before committing.)

Why I think this is the best non-toxic makeup
Araza’s products are named after the rare araza fruit, known for impressive skin benefits such as reversing the signs of aging and better collagen production. They use it in a lot of their products, along with many other beneficial ingredients such as healthy fats, minerals, and more. In addition to being 100% natural, they were the first makeup line to become Paleo Certified, which is a rigorous ingredient auditing process, and most of their ingredients are also Certified Organic.
All of this obsession with the cleanest ingredients makes a huge difference in what it does to feed and nourish your skin, and protect and nurture the skin’s microbiome (yep, we have that…not just in the gut!). So if you have issues like acne, allergies, rosacea, or other autoimmune flare-ups, it can actually help heal them over time vs. just covering them up. Plus, all their products are made in small batches in the USA.

Just as importantly, they WORK. My face feels amazing when I’m wearing them, and my skin weirdly feels better and softer through the day rather than getting greasy or it wearing off. I love that I can go simple or glam, as you can see from the pics below.
The best clean, non-toxic makeup products
So let’s talk about some of my favorite Araza products. These are ones I use basically every day. I’ve also been testing out a few other brands for certain things (e.g. lipstick, mascara, eyeshadow) and will share my favorites there at some point.
Coconut Cream Foundation: I am completely in love with this clean foundation (and have done a detailed review on my travel site). It’s easy to apply and feels light and breathable. My face actually feels even better as the day goes on, like it’s soaking into my skin and moisturizing, “becoming one with it”. Even on a 24+ hour travel day, my skin feels and looks great. Here are a few of the ingredients:
- Ultra-hydrating organic coconut oil extract, for hydration without pore clogging
- SPF 25 from non-nano zinc oxide (which also helps calm inflammation)
- A probiotic that nourishes and provides antimicrobial and antibacterial protection
- High antioxidants from plant superfoods like polyphenols and cartenoids
- Organic jojoba seed oil for skin elasticity and protection (it also helps prevent clogged pores)
- Like all their products, it’s free of all parabens, fragrances, etc.
Bottom line, this foundation is my MVP. I probably wear this like…350 days a year?? Even on days I’m not “wearing makeup” (a.k.a. eyeliner), it gives me a glow-y, dewy finish when I want (and I use a bit of powder when I want matte) and softens and evens out my skin (particularly my $*&#@ rosacea).
I’ll note that they do have a mineral powder foundation that I haven’t tried, if that’s more your style. Because I was needing a bit more coverage due to skin issues, I liked the cream one better.

Coconut Corrective Cream Concealer: I’d never had to use concealer before, but as my rosacea got worse (before it finally got somewhat better), the foundation alone wasn’t cutting it—mostly due to my intense redness. So this stuff became my best friend.
It shares a lot of the same ingredients as the foundation, in addition to organic beeswax, rosehip seed oil, vitamin E, and more to help reduce redness, fight acne, and calm the skin. I pat a layer of this over my cheeks, let it set for a minute, then apply my foundation (using a brush usually).

Primer + Finishing Translucent Clay Powder: I truly thought I’d never wear powder again, but this has changed my mind. I don’t wear it all the time, but depending on the season and if I want to tone down my glow for a more matte look, it’s amazing. It’s super light, and can be a primer before foundation then provide a lovely smooth finish after.
Even when I’m not using it as actual powder, I usually dab a bit on my eyelids and below my eyes before putting eyeliner on…this helps my foundation “set” a bit and gives a dry, stable surface for the eyeliner. Otherwise it tends to wander 🙂

Rejuvenating Coconut Lip Gloss: When I was a teenager, something happened to my lips and since then they’ve been crazy sensitive and I haven’t been able to wear any kind of lipstick or lipgloss (only Aquaphor). That is, until now, ! My lips usually do really well with Araza’s lipgloss. The texture is great and I’ve found a few colors that work well for me (though I’m sad about a few they’ve recently discontinued).
This is packed with natural ingredients like organic coconut oil extract and organic castor seed oil for moisture, along with the araza fruit and stevia and organic essential oils for a bit of sweetness and scent.

Mango Cream Color Pots & Mango Bronzer Balm: Lastly, cheeks stuff. But also secretly, lips stuff! Both of these products have mango butter, jojoba oil, shea butter, watermelon seed oil, and other great ingredients.
I absolutely LOVE the Dusk cream pot (far-right in the first pic below). I rarely get to wear it on my cheeks as a blush because my rosacea has been so bad (but do occasionally and the kind of dark coral/rust color is perfect for me). However, I also love it as a lipstick alternative. The texture and blendability are great, I’m obsessed with the color, and it’s nice to have a more matte option.
I also have the Sunny cream bronzer, which I use either to give a general hint of sun (instead of blush), or to provide some contour.

So there’s a deep-dive into some of my favorite clean makeup products, and some background on why Araza is (to me) one of the absolute best non-toxic makeup brands out there! I truly love and believe in their products…and I’ll definitely share some of my other natural skincare and beauty items once I find ones I can truly rely on and recommend.
If you’d like to test them out yourself, Araza has generously offered to give my readers an exclusive discount code (ONEGIRL) for 15% your first order.
I’m always on the lookout for new amazing non-toxic beauty brands—trust me, I’ve been down a Tiktok rabbit hole—so please also share your favorites in the comments!
