This no-cook tomato sauce for margherita pizza is simple and traditional, a delicious and fresh pizza sauce that only takes a couple minutes to make!

Course: Appetizers, Dips, & Snacks
Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 1 28 ounce can of GOOD canned tomatoes the original recipe recommends fire-roasted, but I'm a huge fan of San Marzano
  • 1 small garlic clove; if you don't have a small one use half of a medium or a quarter of a large clove, you don't want to overdo the garlic in this sauce
  • Dried oregano start with 1 teaspoon
  • Extra-virgin olive oil 1-2 tablespoons
  • Kosher sea salt start with 1/2 to 1 tablespoon
  • Pinch of sugar
  • Optional: a splash of balsamic vinegar

Instructions

  • Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend for a few seconds. This is a "go with your heart" recipe on amounts but I've tried to give guidance.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary (I typically end up adding more salt, and a little sugar to balance out the acidity).
